“Meet me in Beijing!” says Amy Fu.

What better place to learn Chinese than in China? This summer, Smart Panda Presents LLC will take a band of intrepid young students and their families on a language and cultural adventure in China. On this 12-day, 11-night tour, we’ll divide our time between bustling Beijing and rural Mutianyu, a village in the shadow of The Great Wall.

Our itinerary focuses on family fun with daily blocks of time for young travelers enrolled within the Smart Panda Kids (SPKids) group of our tour. SPKids is the language-learning, educational component of our adventure and is lead by SPP co-founder Amy Fu and her assistant. Because low student-teacher ratio is important for effective learning, we’re limiting the number of students in the SPKids group to 12, which sets the ratio at 1:6. For more information on how our SPKids component will work, click here to download the Itinerary/SPKids doc.

About the creators of our itinerary:

Amy Fu is the Mandarin-speaking curriculum designer and teacher for Smart Panda Presents. Her lively, young-at-heart teaching style keeps young and teen students constantly engaged. It’s not unusual to hear kids say they LOVE Amy-laoshi! And it’s no surprise that she is a highly-sought after tutor by parents in the greater Los Angeles area. During the school year, she teaches Mandarin at a college preparatory high school in Orange County. During the summer, she directs and teaches SPP’s “Intro to Chinese Summer Camp.” To learn more about Amy’s background, click here.

Bruce Austin is husband to SPP co-founder Linda. He brings 20+ years of professional experience in designing and organizing foreign tours for major adventure travel companies. He has designed tours in South Africa, France, Ireland, Switzerland, Italy, Canada, and China. They have two daughters from China, currently age 7 and 8.

Together, Amy and Bruce combined their expertise to create a family-focused itinerary with a strong language learning component for kids.

We invite you to download the itinerary and enjoy these photos of Beijing and Mutianyu which were taken on our 14-day tour of China in 2008. Our CHINA Camp will include many of these sights and more.
